Luke’s body was found in the deep end of the main leisure pool around 6pm on Saturday.
The St Fergus Primary pupil had not been not spotted by staff who had pulled a cover over the swimming pool as they closed up for the night.
A search was conducted only when a frantic relative of Luke raised the alarm.
The cover, understood to have been rolled out over the water to help preserve temperature, was pulled back and his body was found at the bottom of the pool.
Lifeguards dived in and pulled Luke out. They attempted to resuscitate him and efforts to revive him were maintained by the paramedics.
Luke was pronounced dead at Ninewells Hospital shortly after

I looked on this site to leave a candle for a close friend '' Boyd Evans.
I came accross ur site Luke I was born in Dundee and my Gran & Granda lived very near Adler. I know your at peace Luke and enjoy ur new journey Boyd will look after u i am sure.
My thoughts are with ur family at this very sad time and shine through to them Luke they need u sleep tight.
